He received the<\/span><span class=\"a\">degree in surgery and medicine from the University of Milan,<\/span><span class=\"a\">Italy, where he gained the specialization in medical Audiology in <\/span><span class=\"a\">1981 and he obtained the regional habilitation as Hospital<\/span><span class=\"a\">executive of a complex unit in 2001. During the \ufb01rst years of his<\/span><span class=\"a\">career, he was a Researcher at the Audiology Institute of Milan,<\/span><span class=\"a\">headed by Prof. M. Del Bo, who contributed to his clinical and<\/span><span class=\"a\">scienti\ufb01c form<span class=\"l6\">ation.<br \/>\n<span class=\"l10\">Afterwards he became the scienti\ufb01c<\/span><\/span><\/span><span class=\"a\">coordinator of the Centro Ricerche e Studi <span class=\"l6\">Amplifon for two years<\/span><\/span><span class=\"a\">and finally he was asked by <span class=\"l6\">the Ospedale di Circolo of V<span class=\"l\">arese to<\/span><\/span><\/span><span class=\"a\">coordinate and then to direct the Audio<span class=\"l6\">vestibology Unit till the <\/span><\/span><span class=\"a\">2010.<br \/>\n<\/span><span class=\"a\">He made this unit a leader in Italy concerning the deaf\u00a0<\/span><span class=\"a\">rehabilitation and <span class=\"l6\">one of the main <span class=\"l10\">European centers <span class=\"l7\">concerning<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><span class=\"a\">cochlear implants in pediatric age with a personal casistic of more<\/span><span class=\"a\">than 1300 cochlear implants.<br \/>\n<\/span><span class=\"a\">He was a Professor at the Universit\u00e0 degli Studi of Milan, La<\/span><span class=\"a\">Sapienza, Rome, at <span class=\"l9\">the <span class=\"l10\">Universit\u00e0 dell\u2019Insubria, <span class=\"l11\">V<span class=\"l\">arese, and<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><span class=\"a\">consultant for the Foreign Ministry, Health Ministry and the<\/span><span class=\"a\">Vatican Causae Sanctorum Congregatio.<br \/>\n<\/span><span class=\"a\">He was the Scienti\ufb01c Director of Fondazione Audiologica Varese<\/span><span class=\"a\">onlus that works together with the Ospedale di Circolo to manage<\/span><span class=\"a\">the Audiovestibologia Unit and its research activity. <\/span><span class=\"a\">He was the author of more than 150 publications, among those,<\/span><span class=\"a\">30 books or chapters of books. <a href=\"http:\/\/www.audiovestibologia.it\/\">http:\/\/www.audiovestibologia.it\/<\/a><br \/>\nHe presented more than 230<\/span><span class=\"a\">scienti\ufb01c communications in national and international congress.<\/span><span class=\"a\">His \ufb01elds of interest are auditory electrophysiology, surgery of the<\/span><span class=\"a\">ear, cochlear implants, and hearing aids.<br \/>\n<\/span><span class=\"a\">At present is Scientific Director of Italian Association Free to hear and Consultant Otologist in Bassini Hospital-Milan.<br \/>\n<\/span><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"image_layer\">\n<div class=\"ie_fix\"><\/div>\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Sandro Burdo, Scientific Director of Italian Association Free to Hear.
