The probability that Magnetic Resonance Imaging will become indicated for a CI recipient during his/her life is increasing.
The main reasons are that children receive their CI at a very young age, they have a long life expectancy and the diagnostic value of MRI is significantly improving with continuously advanced technology.
Parents should know before they decide to get a CI for their child that MRI is basically possible with the implant in place, depending on the type of implant and provided certain precautions are observed.
